The word is out on David's …
What began as Prahran's best-kept secret is now one of Melbourne's best Chinese restaurants.
"I can't wait to go back... very fair prices, this is a gem of a place, 18/20" says Herald Sun Food Critic.
David's dishes are infused with exotic teas and herbs drawing on the rich and fragrant flavours of Shanghai, Beijing and Szechuan cuisine.
Some recipes such as the Eight Treasure Duck take up to three days to meticulously prepare using flavours that have been around for a thousand years.
While the menu largely salutes tradition, dishes explore a modern turn, keeping pace with seasonal produce and customer preference.
Nourishing tonic soups, juicy pork dumplings, mouth watering Drunken Chicken, wok tossed lamb fillet, bamboo shoot slices draped in wilted spinach - dream combinations of flavour and aroma.
Close to 100 dishes across David's a la carte, yum cha, banquet and express lunch menus are complemented by an exceptionally good 'Tea Menu' and 'Wine List'.
Light walls, high ceilings and exposed beams give David's art deco inspired loft-style warehouse an open contemporary feel with the central focus on a 100 year old tea chest containing an eclectic range of historic teapots.
